Skills and Qualifications:
- Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Successful coaching experience at high school or college level preferred
- Hold current first aid certification
- Hold a valid current “hands-on CPR certification or be enrolled in a “hands-on” CPR course
- Complete Washington State Patrol Criminal History background check
- Complete OSPI Moral Character Supplemental form
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Knowledge of current program techniques and strategies
- Demonstrated skill in program development and evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to motivate young athletes
- Ability to organize program for high school students
- Commitment to uphold policies and expectations of the school district
- Exemplary driving record
Reports to: Athletic Director
Major Tasks and Responsibilities
- The coach must recognize his/her responsibilities for conducting his/her team activities within the policies and regulations established by the WIAA and Mt. Adams School District Board
- Provide for safety and welfare of participants. Stress safety precautions and awareness of appropriate training and injury procedures
- Cooperate with and consider the needs of other coaches
- Accompany and direct all games at home or out of town for the team assigned to his/her supervision
- Oversee administrative program duties including eligibility, equipment and travel
- Be responsible for participants from the time they report until they leave for home. Supervise the dressing room facilities while being used by athletes. Coaches will not leave the facility until the last athlete has gone home
- Teach and develop fundamental skills, develop able leaders and followers, foster cooperation and exhibit good sportsmanship by students engaged in activities and/or spectators
- Maintain sports equipment and playing surfaces
- Prepare and condition athletes for competition
- Occasional driving students in district vehicles
