Position Title:
Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) – Behavior and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Support (K–8)
Summary:
The TOSA for Behavior and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) provides leadership and support to promote positive behavior, emotional regulation, and a safe, inclusive school environment for K–8 students. This role focuses on direct student support, staff coaching, and the development of schoolwide systems that foster social-emotional growth and academic success.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small-group support for students with behavioral or SEL needs.
- Model and co-teach SEL and behavior lessons in classrooms.
- Coach teachers in implementing proactive classroom management and SEL strategies.
- Collaborate with teams to design and monitor behavior support plans.
- Participate in MTSS/PBIS implementation and data-based decision-making.
- Engage families to strengthen home-school partnerships that support student well-being.
- Lead or support professional learning in SEL, restorative practices, and behavior supports.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Valid teaching certificate
- Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Experience supporting students with behavioral or social-emotional needs
Prefered:
- Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
- Training or experience in PBIS, MTSS, trauma-informed, or restorative practices
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of effective SEL and behavior intervention practices
- Commitment to equity and inclusive education
